“Superb food and lovely staff!”
I've been visiting 8th of july restaurant since 2009 and the food is excellent! Very freshly made curries, mexican and Israeli food! The best view on the Palace Museum inside the fort. Try the fantastic fresh Mango Juice. The only place in Jaisalmer where you can get fresh filter coffee and freshly baked applepie.
The terrace and furniture could use an upgrade. In hot season it is advisable to sit inside. The lovely owners Rama and Jags will welcome you and you will surely come back if you stay more than one day in Jaisalmer. Well worth the visit!

“Best Restaurant We Found In Jaisalmer”
After some bad meals in Jaisalmer we tried 8 July and then recommended it to everyone. The owners work hard to provide excellent fresh food, a homely atmosphere and very personal service. In our experience the Indian dishes were the best. Great selection of thirst-quenching drinks. And, as other reviewers have said, the views of the Fort are spectacular!

“Amazing!”
8 July is a charming restaurant with a beautiful view of Sonar Killa! We enjoyed meeting the owners (Jag and Rama Bhatia) who were very courteous, funny and sweet!

We highly recommend the veg pizza and tomato cheese spaghetti. Their homemade ice cream is excellent! They even packed us a small dinner (parathas and homemade pickle) for the train which was lovely!

“Must entertaining maitre de in Jodhpur”
My boyfriend I informed our hostess that we needed our dishes asap because we were already running late for our trip to Udaipur. Mrs Bhatia told us that if our meals weren't on the table in 10 minutes they would be on the house. If they were, my boyfriend would need to pay double and my meal would be free. True to her word the dishes, a spinach and chickpea curry, some tacos and 2 fresh mango juices (delicious) were on the table within time. My boyfriend ordered a peanut butter sandwich for the road, which he said was just ok but the food we ate there was great! Definitely worth a visit.

“We simply loved it!!!”
Situated in the main square of the Fort (Dussehra Square), 8th July, is made of great food and great people. Mrs. Bhatia, the owner of the restaurant makes the entire experience better, leaving you with fond memories. We went back everyday that we were in Jaisalmer. :)

“An amazing restaurant run by amazing couple”
This restaurant situated right in the chowk is run by a very interesting couple Jag and Rama Bhatia and is an absolute must visit place when you are inside the jaisalmer fort. The highly personalised service of Mrs. Rama Bhatia ensuring that you get absolutely home cooked food hygenically prepared. Jags is an interesting character and has an indepth knowledge of old hindi film music. We visited this restaurant on 14th Nov 2010 and ended up having breakfast and lunch the next day. Although it is slightly expensive , I guess one needs to pay a little extra for clean, wholesome and tasty food.
